Monday - Friday, May 11th - 15th

Monday - DAY 5: Rhythm & 1st Draft.
Tuesday - DAY 6: 2nd Draft. We are wrapping this up in the next few days! Please make sure you have selected a novel - survey is in Classroom - from the 50's to read during the last few weeks of school.

Monday - Friday, May 4th - 8th

Monday - Posting DAY 3: Abstractions. This one is in simple presentation form.
Wednesday - DAY 4: Inspiration. I will post a list of links to awesome spoken word artists. Steal some ideas! Get inspired! 

Also, sometime this week, I will post a survey for you to answer about what book from the 1950's you would like to read. I will give you a few choices, along with their descriptions. 

Monday - Friday, April 27th - May 1st

Monday - Posting last lecture on elements of poetry: PERSONA, plus an intro to the poetry project, DAY 1.
Wednesday - DAY 2, IMAGERY.

Monday - Friday, April 20th - 24th

Monday- Posting video lecture on LINE in poetry. "Found Poem" assignment is due on Friday.

Monday - Friday, April 13th - 17th

Monday - Posting Flash Stories Redux. Please do some writing and have it on hand for Wednesday. Meanwhile, I will start grading your Poetry Projects!
Wednesday - Posting Poetry: Rhythm Video Lecture, as well as an assignment on Classroom.  


Monday - Friday, April 6th - 10th

Monday - Practice Google Meet session at 11 am, just to make sure we can all figure it out before it counts. Look for the code in a Google Classroom message.

I posted my very first VIDEO LECTURE on Friday April 3rd, so please give me some feedback. You'll need a notebook and your poetry collection. There is also a practice assignment on Classroom. This is a trial run and I would really appreciate your critiques and suggestions. Thanks!

  • Work on the Poetry of War assignment, following the guidelines on Classroom. Email me if you have questions! 
  • Meet up on Zoom on Wednesday, if possible. This is just to touch base and try out this virtual conferencing thing.
  • I will send out a pilot video lecture pretty soon. It will be review of the poetry intro we did right before the shut down and will do a little deeper into imagery. There will be an accompanying assignment on Classroom.
  • Stay safe & healthy!

Friday - The Best Years of Our Lives. Actually, we shifted gears to do an intro to poetry & I passed out the poetry collection we'll be working with.

Thursday - PSA's.
Friday - Here are the groups presenting next week.  Fishbowl-style optional.  Get started on lesson plans today.

Monday - Article from The Guardian: Grapes of Wrath: Now More Relevant Than Ever.  Please read this and write a short response on a piece of paper to turn in:
  • What is your response to this article?  
  • How is the novel relevant today?
  • What is the biggest theme you see in Grapes of Wrath that you think we still need to talk about today?
Tuesday - The FINAL.

Friday - The FINAL.  Presentations begin today.

Friday - Wrap up book notes & short personal reflection about a time things kind of slipped through your fingers.  Please finish reading the novel for next week.

Thursday -  Last day of the  semester!  Last chance VOCAB QUIZ on these words Vocab Quizlet: Functional Vocabulary.  If you have already passed a vocab exam this semester, you can try to pass this one for five extra credit points (the only extra credit of the semester).
