Plans for the school shut down...

First of all, please stay healthy and safe.  Limiting the disaster ahead depends on us all thinking and acting for the benefit of the community.

Links You Will Need:

The Book of Revelation: New International Version

Email me with any questions.  Finish your response to Revelation, which we started on March 11th. Then read the introduction to The Decameron, linked above.  Take excellent notes on the following topics (handwritten is fine, but you can also use the document I will put up on Google Classroom).

  • Conduct some background research on Giovanni Boccaccio.  Who was he?  What is the historical context of this text?
  • Conduct some research about The Black Plague of the mid-1300's.  What happened?
  • According to Boccaccio, what was the situation in Florence?
  • How did people react?
  • What are some of the many results of the plague (besides the death of 25% of the population), according to Boccaccio?
  • Summarize the set up for the stories in The Decameron, after the whole first person account of the plague in Florence is over.
